How the Universal Parser technology works

Instead of hardcoding rules for specific websites, the Universal Parser uses heuristic algorithms to identify quiz structures. It looks for visual and structural cues in the HTML, such as a prominent paragraph of text followed by a list of selectable options.

Reading visible text on any page

Because the parser focuses on visible text rather than hidden metadata, it works on custom-built websites just as well as on popular learning management systems. It extracts the raw text and feeds it to the AI for accurate analysis.

The fallback: FocusScan for images and PDFs

No parser is perfect. Sometimes a website uses a canvas element, embedded PDF, or an image to display the question. When the Universal Parser cannot find the text in the DOM, you can seamlessly fall back to FocusScan.

FocusScan lets you capture a specific region of the screen, running local OCR to read the text and keep your study session moving.

Reporting unsupported layouts
